Why Northgate

Substantiated Sustainability

Named Standards, Not Buzzwords

We specify the exact certification: BPI to ASTM D6400/D6868, FSC, EPA Safer Choice, SFI. If we cannot name the standard, we do not make the claim.

Clarity Over Claims

Terms like 'earth-friendly' and 'green' can mean anything or nothing. We help partners cut through the noise by mapping every product to a verifiable standard, so your sustainability story holds up to scrutiny.

Direct Production Sourcing

Sustainable products at competitive prices because we source from production facilities, not through premium-priced eco-brand intermediaries.

Transition Support

Moving from conventional to sustainable? We map your current SKUs, identify certified alternatives, and provide cost comparisons with no obligation.

ASTM D6868

Standard for biodegradable plastics used as coatings on paper and other substrates

Products aligned with EPA's federal sustainable procurement hierarchy

Market Reality

Compostable Does Not Always Mean Composted

A product can be BPI certified as commercially compostable and still end up in a landfill. Why? Because commercial composting facilities that accept food service ware are not available everywhere. According to BPI, facility acceptance varies significantly by region.

This matters for your partners. When they ask for "sustainable" products, they need to understand the infrastructure in their service area. We help partners navigate this: identifying which facilities accept compostable packaging, which products are recyclable in their local streams, and where reduced-impact conventional products may be the more responsible choice.

Sustainability is a system, not a label. We help you build the system.
